Horeca HC Rotterdam

Hospitality general information

In recent years, Ross has always enjoyed taking care of the kitchen. Why the extension to the bar?

"Sometimes a challenge needs to be added to increase job satisfaction," Ross explains. "Now that the team has expanded considerably, we are ready for a new step. We think that with our team we can create even more liveliness at the club and want to contribute to the enjoyment of the members. The combination of bar and kitchen ensures more efficient collaboration, which will help during events. In addition, one vision can be implemented, which radiates more unity.”

First of all, we want to improve the atmosphere in the clubhouse.

Ross continues: "We want to make the clubhouse multifunctional through new furniture. It should become a place where teams can have a nice drink after their training, but it should also be possible for a parent to quietly read a magazine. Currently there are still too many The same corners and we think that this can be improved. We would also like to expand the catering square in the summer. Recent years have shown that this has been a real addition to the club."

There are rumors about a sports bar, is that true?

"That's right! In the short term we will start creating a true sports bar in the current restaurant with several TV screens. This should become Hillegersberg's living room again," Koen indicates. "A cozy drinking spot around the fireplace, where can be deliciously eaten. After training, teams can enjoy a cold beer or a good glass of wine with a delicious snack. The beer and wine package will be upgraded with better wines in the bottle.”

The restaurant will therefore be converted into a sports bar where drinks are given more emphasis than in the current concept. New catering manager Florian explains: "The intention is for drinks to be so enjoyable that people will also stay for a bite to eat. There will also be a good drinks menu with more options, such as different flammkuchen, charcuterie, etc. The atmosphere will be a bit more informal. words, candles, beer/wine/drinks menu on the table, tin with cutlery instead of set tables.”

"We also hope to be able to give the bar a facelift during the winter break. This will attract our guests more upon arrival and we will offer them a contemporary range. There will be more special beers on tap and a nice wine cooler with tasty wines for the guests. enthusiasts. A second coffee machine will also be installed for a higher turnaround time on busy weekends,” Florian explains further.

"We will also share our catering experiences with the bar staff to ensure that we can take the catering industry at HC Rotterdam to an even higher level.”

What do you expect from our members?

"We are already noticing a lot of curiosity among the members about the new plans. That is a good sign," Koen responds immediately. "The biggest objective is that the members become proud of the catering industry at HC Rotterdam, if we can achieve this then it is our mission accomplished. Away teams have to come back to the club because it happens there. "

"We especially hope to receive more parents in the clubhouse," Koen continues. "We notice that many parents are still waiting in the car, especially on training days. It's up to us to make sure the clubhouse is a much better place.”

Finally, the new catering team indicates that it also wants to involve its members more in the activities that we will organize. "So if you have any nice ideas, please let us know!"

Last month we wrote that a change was coming in the catering industry of HC Rotterdam. After 4.5 years, catering manager Tjeerd Esser has indicated that he is ready for a new challenge and that means a new interpretation for the bar.

Ross Heemskerk and his team indicated that they were interested and as announced, Ross will run the club's catering industry together with Koen van Everdingen and Florian Faasen from today, Thursday December 1. Curious about what they will do and who they are? We would like to introduce them to you.

Tell me, who are Ross, Koen & Florian and how did they end up at HC Rotterdam?

Ross Heemskerk, 37 years old, started his catering company Kitchen of Heemskerk 13 years ago.

Koen van Everdingen, 34 years young, lives with Britt and is the proud father of Pien.

Florian Faasen, 33 years old, born and raised in Rotterdam, cousin of Koen and, like him, a big VOC heart.
